Fuel/Ignition Problems.....

Postby MINTFX » Sat Dec 24, 2005 9:05 pm

Well... I was heading off to play a round of golf this arvo. Got half way there and noticed the power was coming in and out really weirdly. I pulled over, popped then bonnet and had a look as you do... Nothing wrong I could see, revved it a bit and it seemed fine. Turned around and headed home and it was still doing. Unfortunatly I live on a hill... I got to the bottom and it started to get power then lose power really bad so I stopped and started off again, giving it plenty of gas and dropped the clutch otherwise it stalled. I only had a new clutch put in about 6mnths ago, so unless its faulty I dont see why it would be the clutch... But it seems like it is. Can anyone comment on this?

that doesnt sound like anything to do with your clutch or your gearbox.

have you played with or installed anything recently?

could be anything, your timing throwing a hissy... i dont know why your blaming gearbox....

my guess is maybe your dizzy cap is fzored, causing a minor miss (uneven power flow).

but yeh, little bit more information would be just lovely dovely

clutch has nothing to do with it, IF your clutch was fukzOrd then it would just slip (eventually being undriveable) but you wouldnt stall, you would just rev but go nowhere.

as coz said, sounds like ignition or whatnot which is why i asked if youd been playing/fitting/fixing something recently.

Yea I did root the clutch 6mnths ago thats why I got a new one, only just made it into the shop. The only reason I thought it was the gearbox is because it was fine when I pulled over and check the engine out, it revved fine and ran sweet. I guess it mustve been some dirt and shit in the petrol, i tried to started it up this morning but it seemed to be being starved of enough petrol and just died. Finally got it idling and i took it for a drive, gave it a good blowout and it seems to be fine, Mustve been the shitty petrol. Cheers for the comments. And no I havent been fidling with anything recently.

Just an update. Replaced the fuel filter. Took a bit to get started, it would start, stay at 1000rpm then die, after a few times itd get going. Got it going this morning and filled up (Scored a free full tank of gas). Got home again, everything was sweet. Got it started after a few tries to go to my mates place got there alright, started driving home, half way down his hill it just died. So we ended up towing it back to my place. (Cheers to Speedster Chick for sitting up my arse for some of the way  ) Going to have to organise an auto elec to come up and check it out. It is sparking fine as I did a quick test with a screwdriver.

Mine would do a simmilar thing cos it had either a $&#$% oxy sensor or map sensor. Check for any fault codes.

Or have u filled up at any shitty backroad petrol stations?

INFO wrote:In your engine bay you will have a small Diagnostic box.

Get a little wire and bridge E1 and TE1 terminals.

Turn the car to 'ON' - Meaning don't start it.

Look at the engine check light and count the flashes and write the numbers down. Each number will mean something different.

Flashes will be as follows:

1 1 1 1........1 1 1 1 1 wich will mean Code: 45

You can check what the codes mean on this Site:
http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/techtip/engineerrorcodes.html

Doesnt matter if not start to check...
