for easy to install stuff, i would go with an ae86 LSD diff, should bolt straight into the ae85 mounts - someone else could confirm this though.
and I don't know if a t50 would bolt straight in with an ae86/t50 crossmember or not?

my 4age/t50/ae85 diff conversion into my ke35 corolla almost bolted straight in, just needed all the mounts moved slightly (except for the diff, but all the brake lines etc still mounted up the same) so I wouldn't imagine there would be much different between an ae85 and ae86 mounts.

but if you want to turbo it in the future to use for drifting, you could probably use a hilux or toyota crown LSD and a w55 box or something like that.

hope this makes sense

t50 will bolt straight in if its from an ae86 (ae86 crossmember) if not you will need an A series bellhousing, then just use your old k50 gearbox crossmember with a couple of new holes drilled to fit it to the t50 box

a t50 will not stand up to severe drift punishment if the car is turbo/supercharged in which case you will need a w55 or w58 etc. type box
these never came out with A series bellhousings so you will need to make a custom one, or buy one (they come up on trademe fairly often) also you will need to make a custom crossmember, and need a custom driveshaft

diff wise, get an older hilux diff and modify the mounts to fit into your car, then a reconditioned lsd diff head will do the trick drift wise

or if your on a budget try find an ae86 or te71 disc brake diff, they are no where near as strong as a hilux diff, but require no modification to fit into your car, a standard ae86 lsd is fairly pathetic so you will best to by and aftermarket item such as trd etc.

i'm in the process of putting a 4age silvertop with w55 and 86 rear end in my ae85. (the price and weakness of t50's make w55 very good option)

to add to what AE85coupe said, "also you will need to make a custom crossmember, and need a custom driveshaft"
i just got a w55 cross member off a guy, not sure what it came out of, but it was very close to lining up with the existing holes. i just had to make two of the holes more slotted. so with washers it doesn't even look modifed,
as for the driveshaft, i used an ae85 auto for the gearbox end cos it is the same size and spline as the w55. i'm sure these aren't too hard to come by. i'm sure w55 drive shafts aren't hard to get either. and an ae85 manual driveshaft for the diff end. cost me $120 at beatty drive shafts in penrose to get the two ends joined at the correct length. i was happy with that.

so that was probably some of the easier parts of the conversion.

just my 2 cents.

the uni joints on the auto driveshaft are small.
hilux with lsd converted with say ae92 brakes wont be much more than finding a rare 86 disc rear end (budget in a new lsd)

renew all bushes.. get some new better sway bars from whiteline or so..

nice
