hey there people, just found out about a DIY ECU called MegaSquirt that i can use on my 20v to remove the AFM.

i was just wondering if anyone here is currently using this and where they got it from in NZ, and the cost and all those other things.

Dont know if they have them running yet, but afew guys with 20v's on here were setting up megasquirts for their cars. Lots of people have used them for various cars in nz. I believe most order them from the megasquirt site

I have an ae85 with a silvertop running a megasquirt with ford edis system running the spark. The cars going with a 95% tune im just sorting the paint on it at the moment and re-doing the exhaust. I bought one for me and some friends from here

Got one running on my bluetop. Im using it as a fuel-only ecu at the moment and using the standard bluetop ecu to control ignition.

Last time I heard the megasquirt couldnt read the signal from the 20v distributor to control ignition. So you would have to change to the EDIS system like KE70wagon20v has. or devise some sort of signal conditioner.

yea i havent looked on the forum for a long time. i wonder if there has been any prgress. but if ur putting 20v in ae86 u wont want to use the dizzy anyway if ur using MS or other.. so edis or other sort of system would be better.

i am using (used) edis on my 4age

na im not putting a 20v into a ae86, i just want to put a blacktop head on my silvertop, and thought about how to remove the AFM.

So all i really want to do is remove the AFM

you'd be suprised by how little power you lose from the AFM. Tests on 300RWHP mr2's have shown about a 5hp drop, or roughly 1.5% less power with an AFM in place vs no AFM. It wont necessarily be the same on an NA motor, but it's still not going to be significant.

Had one running on my 20v, couldn't get the signal conditioners running right, the rpm reading was all over the place, so I went back to fuel only and normal ecu for ignition, then I decided to hold fire on the rest of the project so I sold my MS.

Why not use a blacktop ecu???

and keep in mind that my engine loom comes from an auto but is in a manual car
