CV Joint Help!

Postby Zyros » Tue Jan 10, 2006 6:25 pm

Hey, well my CV joint (Or joints) are stuffed, they click as i turn corners.

Ive concluded, that i may need new ones..
Trying to get into Cars myself (Want to me a mechanic) I wanted to do the replacment myself (possibily a bad idea for a newbie as myself?)

I think rather than hitting it with very little knowledge, its best to be taught??

Does anyone here work at a parts store which sells Cv joints for a Toyota corolla 1990, FXGT, DOHC, 4a-ge (I think thats it)
If so, how much?

And also, can someone assist me (Or teach me) how to install it myself? Im very interested to learn, i will also more than likely pay the person who will teach me install it aswell as i dont think many people are willing to do it for free??

I got quoted, $50 for the Joint, $90 for joint and installation.. Hopefully i can save that extrea $40 ae.. haha..
If anyone can also hit me up with a Cv joint for cheaper, let me know..

Auckland, waitakere region..

$90 each sounds pretty sharp, theres a wee bit of mucking around when doing them. but if you can get someone to help for a 24 pack , it would be a bonus .
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

f#@k you i won't do what ya tell me

If you want to have a go yourself, best thing to do(aside from getting a helper) would be to go to your local library and have a look in a workshop manual- it has step by step and pictures.
Cant believe im still a member here.
