Waterpump issues, 3T-C

Postby RS13 » Fri Jan 27, 2006 1:33 pm

Hi guys!

Say the waterpump shat itself on a 3T (carb, pushrod) motor, looks like the bearing seized, then broke, then all the impeller blades hit the housing and broke off, so no flow, the car overheated, then ran on 3, then stopped.

6 weeks later, it starts fine, sounds a wee bit rattley, but that may just be play in the pushrods. I've taken the pump off, I've found one blade in the bottom, but am missing the other 7! I'd assume they're in the motor somewhere.. would it be worth just slapping on another waterpump? Or is the motor pretty much junk now? I have visions of them flowing through the system, wreaking havoc on all rubber hoses.. and then jamming the new waterpump and creating the problem again.

Opinions? Ideas? I'm after a second-hand pump, see the parts exchange for my number if you can help, I'm in Chch.

Cheers! :)
