You can use any W series bellhousing on any W series gearbox. The bolt patterns are the same.

And yes the 5M and 7M flywheels I suppose would be different. Although I don't know exactly what sort of size we are talking about but the 7M I suspect would be a tad bigger.

Not sure on the MTEU though....I'm pretty sure since it's from the same series motor that it should bolt up to a 5M but again it might be smaller than just your average OE 5M flywheel.

cough*bullshit*cough

W50 steelcase bellhousing is NOT interchangeable with W55/57/58 alloy case gearboxes.

that seems weird Anth, all the investigation I have done so far has said the following

*

W series gearboxes have a separate bellhousing.
*

Different bellhousings are used to connect a W50 gearbox to an R or M series engine.
*

Different bellhousings are used to connect a W55 gearbox to an R or T series engine.
*

Alloy W5# gearboxes are interchangeable with each other.
*

Alloy and steel W5# gearboxes are not interchangeable with each other.
*

W50 bellhousings do not fit the W55 gearbox and vice versa.
*

W55 bellhousings do fit the W56, W57 and W58 gearboxes and vice versa.
*

All W## gearboxes after 1970 had the same output spline as the A## automatic gearboxes.

the above can be found Here and from conversations with others in the trade they have said the same

w55,w56,w57,w58,w59 are all inter changable, and will also fit g52(hilux) and the hiace gearbox(alloy). the front section of the hilux and hiace gearbox look same as supra box.
Anth_555- you must be confusing a w58(N/A box) with a r154(turbo box) as they are bigger.
w58 came in the older supras(look exactly like w55) and then the w58 came out in the mk4 supras(N/A only) and have a super rear shifter, that gearstick is not interchangeable with the rest of the boxes.
the gearsticks in the w55-59 front-rear shifters can be changed between each other.
i have used van bell housings on my w55 and w57. i have in my ute a bellhouse from a '96 supra w58 on my g52 hilux gearbox, i have fitted a Y bell from my ute to a w55 and w57 and w58 and it fits.
