Tanabe springs... how to pick them?

Postby peas » Wed Feb 15, 2006 6:11 pm

I have been given a set of springs in a Tanabe box that were free as part of another deal. I am not entirely sure if they belong to the box though. I have searched the net and it seems that they can be any number of colours including black which these are. Is there any other way of identifying them? Gauge of steel? Number of coils? markings? (I can't see any) etc.

Im changing shocks over to get rid of the cutties in the car at the moment and figure that if they are what they are meant to be they will do fine as replacements. I can get Kings at a very good price but is there anything else that could be a decent spring at a decent price? Looking for some degree of firmness, lowered and not so harsh... more progressive.

Ive seen a set of non-coilover tanabe struts that were orange...and i dont think they were repainted as they still had stickers etc.

I had Tanabe springs which were a flat medium blue, but was sorta mottled cloour if that the right word.

Mine had the model number etc (of the car - jzs147) printed on the spring about halfay down in a dot matrix style font. Might be hard to see on black springs tho!
