directional headlights

Postby Dirtbag » Tue Feb 21, 2006 4:43 pm

I have noticed that when I turn my indicators on that lights turn on in my headlight assembly to 'light the way' that I am turning, would it be possible to set up a switch inside the steering column somehow so that those same lights would come on if I turned the steering wheel one way enough, eg a half turn etc.?

I have a ae101 gt-apex btw

could be done, but would be a bit of work and I dont know about legality side of it.
Ive seen a device, like a mouse pad in a way with a wheel which goes onto the steering column- that then would go into a box which devises if you are going left or right and with the correct setup could be used in a headlight situation. making it proportional would be a little more tricky though...

It wouldn't have to be proportional, just on off kinda thing like what my indicator controls currently do to the headlights

but you would want it to have a limit as to when it begins, or it will be flashing on and off as you drive on an almost straight road- for example, you would want it to go on at say at least 1/4 of a wheel turn.

But that would be cool  , trains do that when approaching a crossing.

haha, doing cone slaloms would be interesting!
yea, the lights that turn on seem to be rather bright also, would be useful to see either side when parking at night etc (though not exactly a big deal!)
