parts in 4age headset

Postby AE85coupe » Fri Feb 24, 2006 10:50 am

for a smallport 4age i have found it works out cheaper to buy all the parts seperately than buy a complete head set, i just want to make sure i haven't forgotten anything

so far i have

head gasket
rocker cover gaskets
valve stem seals
camshaft seals

what else will i need?

1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar

i priced everything ( including inlet and exhaust)

$93 (was $124 but i get a 25% discount)

toyota quoted me $350, repco quoted $500 odd, my local engine reconditioner mate said $280 and supercheap said $315

(also a mate from repco did the dodgys and said he could get a set for $280 as well)

so yeah i think pricing the parts seperately worked out a fair bit cheaper ($187 cheaper to be exact)

Why do people constantly brag about how cheap they got something without telling others where to get it at that price? What use is "my mate got 4agze head set for $150 geniue"
If you don't supply the USEFUL bit of information like where other people can get it for that price and who to contact.....

hehe... I noticed your post and as always. useful with cheap/competitive pricing.
I was making reference to other posts... and generalising for other posts in the forums.
