Where do I go, to get Automotive/Toyota nuts/bolts etc?

Postby RomanV » Mon Feb 27, 2006 2:42 pm

I need a few nuts, bolts, and clips.

eg. Bolts that hold the cross member to the car.
Clips that hold the door skins to the doors.

Where would I go to get stuff like this?

My local Toyota dealer?
A wreckers?
Warwick?

I havn't been to pick-a-part in AKL but would assume it has more than in WLG. There should be something there with all the bolts that you need.

Clips see Warwick, or find someone wrecking one or if youre lucky one at a wrecker. Repco etc have the twirly stand with the UDF High tensile bolts etc in assorted lengths, wll be cheaper than an engineering shop. Or find someone with a bucket full of bolts theyve collected over the years from pulling things apart and raid them, such as myself ive got shitloads of em.

if you go to an engineer, chances are, to get a metric thread and pitch, you'll end up with an imperial head, or 1mm up from Japanese sizing.

go for a scrounge at the local wreckers, some even sell misc. bolts by the container.

but was the head and thread sizing the same as Toyota bolts?? most of the ones i discarded from usable eg were 6x1.25 with a 13mm/1/2" head or 8mm x1.25 with a 15mm/5/8" head.
