whats the best way 2 take a sw20 3sgte out

Postby mr2--mad » Thu Mar 02, 2006 8:13 pm

i need to replace my motor
Should I :?: struggle taking the gearbox, intake, exhaught manifolds off leaving them in the car and removing engine only

or

Should I :?: struggle to unbolt the struts ,subframe ,rear suspension, brakes engine,gr bx/diff,manifolds and remove it all in one peice and seperate out car

 I m leaning towards taking sub frame off eithier way its a strugle with shit tools
but witch is the best way

Detaching everything and lowering to the ground is the shizzle.. so much easier :!:

 make sure you have a hoist avaliable and have some one help you  spoecially if you are a first timer

:!: when you have the engine lowered :?: you can lift the car over the engine and box.

thats how me and a few others did it to chelles car... might have pics some where online... :!: :?:   :?: :!: :!:

Yes. Unplug the loom from the drivers passenger side kick panel and bring that out with the engine too, saves a lot of time.

I would just unplug the loom from the fusebox rather than pulling through all the wiring running into the cabin - but that's just me

If you dont know which one is the loom, do you think you should really be attempting this on your own? :? Just make sure you get some proper instructions or someone who can help you, or you may end up rooting your car.

A hoist, couple of blocks of wood and some old wheels make light work...

Poor men do it in their driveway.
Really poor men do it in their driveway so small that you can't even fully open your doors.

(Unless you're a rich man, then just give your car to a mechanic and he'll do it up for ya, refer to above post for that.)

Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
