Centrifugal Blower

Postby GT4 20 » Sat Mar 04, 2006 4:35 pm

I'm trying to locate a company here in NZ which sells centrifugal blowers like this..

It's basically like the type found under the dashboard. I'm designing a system to try and reduce heat soak for the WAI on my 4 and by blowing cold air between the cam cover and the core with the addition of a heat shield between the two may be the answer. Especially while sitting stationary. Inlet temps in traffic are hitting over 60 deg C at times! 8O

That is really strange that you are getting 60C, on my ST165 with ST205 intercooler, legacy I/C radiator, no extra heat shield but big hole in bonnet i get ~40C while stationary, and when I start moving it drops to ~30-35 and stays there, I have thermo-probe sitting just after in intercooler and before throttle and somewhat thermally isolated from inlet manifold, but protruding about 5cm inside of joint. Have you tried to turn on the I/C pump all the time? Also adding one of those real slim fans (which I have with thermo-switched) would help as well.
The only time I would get that high temperatures is when I stop after hard drive and switch off the engine and leave it there for 10min to heat soak.
