if you dont have heaps of money, dont attempt a conversion
1) insurance will be heaps, if not impossible
2) you will need a cert
3) hard work/effort/bills involved

if you find a car with an "A" series motor, it will bolt in (but as said before will require a cert)

Find a AE101 wagon with a 4a-fe, the black top will bolt straight in

As for certs, i guess in the long run it is needed but both my cars have had engine conversions (see my sig) with no certs and both can get warrant at VTNZ

And I have insurance on the wagon and its not that expensive.

As for the hard work, theres no dening (sp) that. Be prepared to pay heapz for someone else to do it, or endless sleepless nights :D

Good on ya if you can do it yourself. I found the mechanical side the easy bit, but the wiring is the biarch

you would think so sometimes

ESCORTMAN (plus other non certed people):
bear in mind, (and im not being an old winging bastard) but if you dont have a cert, and you stack the car (or if someone stacks into you), technically the insurance co dont have to pay out, and think of it this way: and insurance co is a business, a business's goal is to make money, if they dont have to pay out, they wont
just a friendly word of caution
i will be initially running that risk when i do my FX conversion, however its a racecar, not a daily driver, and i will be certing suspension etc as well as its completed

As santa said not true, the 20% rule only applies if your doing up the factory engine.

same as any cert - $300-400,
generally that covers the first 3 or 5? mods, then its something like $50-60 per additional mod
(roughly from memory from last time i rung my local cert'er)
