halfshaft removal *HELP**NOW*!!!!!!

just started my first project,

got the whole hub off except for the halfshaft,
Q: how do you remove the halfshaft?

i have removed the boot.

answers asap plz!

Theres a split pin with a funny star shaped thing under it, get them both off and undo the massive as nut thats underneath.

ok thats what i thought it ws lol.

damn the problem is its hard to do when the hubs off completely,

should of done it whilst it was still connected to the steering, x member, strut etc.

$&#$% is there anyway you can take that massive nut off when the whole hubs off?

or do you have to use the brakes?
