Postby Vertigo » Fri Mar 17, 2006 3:23 pm

hello
would the tightness of the headbolts on a 4age break a rachet? if so, what else could i use to get at them?

Use a torque wrench, a ratchet will shear teeth way too easily....well, maybe a 3/4" one wont, but I wouldnt bother if you've only got a 3/8"

my 29.95 set from repco has taken off about 8 4age heads and never snapped anything.... so probly not unless its supercheap. The 30 buck ratchets from repco (powerbuilt) are guaranteed and work damn good too, mines been soaked in diff oil and still works mint.

Soaking it in diff oil probably helped it  People seem to think ratchets dont need to be serviced.

I use a power bar and my jack handle pipe on the end of it. Gives me about 3-4 feet leverage and I don't have to heave on it. I used some cheap 3/8 extensions once and twisted them all in half... cheapy sockets and extensions don't like taking out headbolts.
