Postby blue-smoke » Sat Mar 18, 2006 9:51 am

in my 20 valve 4age i have this ticking sound all the way up to 3 g some times a bit above that, its only when i put my foot down so if im cruzeing it wont happen,
if it is the injectors what can put in in turms if bigger ones?, im use the standerd blue top fuel pump , i was also thinking of boring out the throttle bodys, any advice?

The ticking is more than likely the VVT pulley.

You cant swap out injectors for a different size without an aftermarket ECU. I also run 178 hp at the wheels running those injectors, so I very much doubt you'll need larger ones any time soon.

Boring out the TB's? Are you aiming to loose power? You want velocity not flow, again I run 178hp on the silvertop TB's. I wouldnt go near the blacktop ones (which are 2mm at the butterfly bigger) unless I was pulling in excess of 220 hp at the flywheel. (NA)
The answer is Helmholtz!

Are you running it on 98, I know of some people who have fixed there ticking sound by running a higher octane fuel.

Failing that it could be VVT or in the case of my previous car, a worn cam tensioner
