dash problems *URGH*

Postby gasman » Fri Apr 14, 2006 9:54 pm

ive finished putting in a 4age blacktop into my ae92 previously powered by a 4af and now im cant get the charge light, warning light and the tacho to work.

for the tacho ive tried wiring the signal from where the old 4af dizzy to the ignition wire out of the ecu but that got me nowhere and then i tried wiring it to the HT output tom the coil to the dizzy. that worked but the car didnt start.

for the charge light the old wire from the dash went to the "L" out put of the altenator but on the new altenator on the blacktop it doesnt want to work.

and im just totaly blank for ideas on warning light

The warning light is telling you that something is wrong. Check it for error codes (unless the light isnt working, in which case you havn't got the right wire hooked to the right pin on ecu).

The tacho.... did you really hook it into the ht output of the coil 8O ? The spark plug lead hole? 8O :? It should be going to the - side of the coil. Then that should work sweet (easier than finding the right wire in the loom, its what I did).

Umm, the charge light... You sure it is acuctly charging? :P Because AFAIK it needs to be grounded to come on, which means that its grounded onto something, and if its on the correct wire on alternator, then maybe its not charging?
