Intercooler for 4A-GTE...

Postby peas » Tue May 16, 2006 2:18 pm

Im in the process of TD05h'ing my GZE (AE92) and are at the intercooler stage. I will be running approx 14psi when its all sorted.

We sell the Racepro ones through work and wondered if anyone has any feedback about them? Also looking for size recommendations? It will hopefully sit behind the front bar out of sight if its possible.

And on a side note... anyone know what the "H" stands for in the engine codes? as in 5A-FHE?

IIRC, the H stands for some gayass emission thing.

Anything with a H is gay
like Hond.... errr :)
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

I have only seen one engine with H in the name - 5EFHE.
the difference between two:
5EFHE vs 5EFE:
"acoustic tuned" inlet manifold (2 different lengh runners) vs normal
9.8:1 vs 9.4:1
115Hp vs 105Hp
any other?

Yeah racepro ones are fine, guy I know who works at repco said they havent had any comebacks and have a good reputation. He has an ae101 Gtz with a HT18/T3 setup using a racepro cooler and has also owned a AE92 Turbo
Also looking for size recommendations?
Im converting mine also, Im using a 530x230x65, the turbos a T3/4, I would of gone a little smaller but went with this one as there wasnt much else available on Trademe. The dude I mentioned above uses the same size on his GTZ

Oh, right well that was the size that I was looking at anyway so thats all good... it has something like 200cm2 less area than the next size up and it just had me second guessing myself btu it will fit better in there. Just get a water sprayer or fans I spose.

The reason that I asked about the "H" is that my other Levin (AE91) has a 5A-FHE in it at the moment prior to the GTE going in and I was always a bit curious about it.

racepro fridges are just the chinese ones rebranded.. same as xspower, autobahn 88 etc.. theyre all fine.. kinda hard for an intercooler to 'break'.

The Sera's 5e-fhe actually runs 10.5-1 compression and has higher lift (economical) geared cams compared to the 5e-fe. The FHE pushes 98.6lb/ft torque and 112bhp stock.

It depends if the 5e-fhe exhaust manifold has the ACIS system.

Slightly off topic sorry.
