te71 crossmember into ke70 = excessive toe out?

Postby tbag » Tue May 23, 2006 11:24 pm

Right the te71 crossmember is in the car as is engine box and diff.

I am still running the original ke70 front struts bottom ball joint, bottom arms and steering box and steering arms.

As it sits now it looks as though putting crossmember in and bolting up bottom arms has made wheels toe out somewhat excessively. :?

I know that the te71 front struts and bottom ball joint/steering arm mount are different between ke70 and te71.

What i am wondering is whether the bottom arm itself is the same in both cars and if so are the bottom arm mounts between crossmembers different??

Or since i have the te71 crossmember do i have to run an entire te71 front end? :?

May seem like a stupid question... but why not just adjust the toe?

define excessive?
are you using the TE71 steering rack (not that it should matter)?
have you gained/lost camber?
are you sure its a TE71 x-member?

Yes that could be done but would probably mean extending steering arms?
Then again i should really try it before saying im not blond eh?
Guess ill do that but would like to know how the toe out came about....

eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww shitty old steering box.........throw it away and fit rack and pinion 8)

there should be heaps of adjustment on the tie-rod ends to correct the toe, if there isn't, get the adjusters from a TT132 Corona or a TR?? Lite-ace van(circa 1981).
