4age breather

Do 16V 4age run a pcv valve? I couldnt find one on mine :?

Also whats the correct way to run a catch can with a turbo motor?

Is it cams > catch can

then catch can > pcv valve > manifold

and catch can > air intake (before turbo)

If so where is the vacum produced during boost for the crank case?

Cheers

pcv can fck out stuffing ur motor or turbo
Is it cams > catch can > fresh air through filter if wanted

Just run the hose from the rocker cover into a catch can with a filter. N/a engines can run a vacuum line from the can but on a turboed engine its a little differant because boost will pressurise it, If you also ran the line into the manifold via R/C, boost would also pressurise the crankcase. As long as the crankcase can release pressure from blowby easily it will be fine without vacuum purge.

Rocker covers ->Catch Can ->C/Can Air filter

Thats what the pcv valve does, its like a 1 way valve. I guess it will be fine just going from the cams > catch can > turbo inlet as its pretty much the same as stock 8) Dont want to vent to atmosphere cos the fumes

Apparently they dont use a PCV valve, or so crispy86 was telling me the other day.

Basically you want the catch can to run in between the cam cover and the intake plenum, there is a short length of hose connecting the 2 on the factory setup.

PCV valves on n/a engines only let vacuum purge the crankcase on W.O.T, they block flow on idle as not to allow unregulated air into the manifold. I would of thought that it wouldnt be very effective on a Forced ind/engine as it would be closed on idle and also would have to be closed on boost. Maybe pcv's are a differant type valve on factory turbo motors? Wouldnt a line running from the catch can to the turbo air duct cause fumes to forced into the intercooler via Turbo? Wouldnt it cool and condense back into oil, leaving residue in your cooler and ducting? I thought about this when doing my shitt*, thats why I just vented to atmo?

I dunno just my thoughts!

Turbo engines produce lots vacuum under engine braking and very low throttle. So generally PCV valve would work on turbo car.
