2Y-U replacement,helping parents

Hello,This may have been covered somewhere so please forgive if it has.I,m trying to help my folks.My ma brought a 89 townace,all the bells and whistles,first trip to welly tho it overheated and blewup[great].Anyway my question is what engine[engines]are a compatible swap for the petrol 2Y-U?.My dad and I are doing the work so the best easiest solution is required,we are looking at standard ,straight swap,no mods etc.Any help is appreciated.Thankyou.

I could be stating the obvious here, but if you want the most simple swap would another 2Y be the go?

any of the Y-series should be an easy swap, although the 2.4l 4-Y may be too tall.

replacing with another 2Y is preferable,however a quick search of trade me a coupla days ago finds none listed,plenty of 4age,s.Hence the question of alternative engine replacement.Thanks.
