Do I have 100 kw

Postby samham » Sat Jul 15, 2006 11:40 pm

I know youve had this question before but Im stumped!! Have searched and am comfussed.

I have a 4age, no intake what so ever (had carbs), 7 ribs, external oil drain, red and black lettering.

Is this the 100kw engine?????

I dont know if the head is big or small port, if the head is bigport does that mean tvis 88kw, and if smallports 100kw non tvis.

See Im getting confused again

Can I measure the with of the intake port to tell?

external oil drain would suggest small port

What about the adub ones? They had oil drains on them?

If you can take a photo of the ports, or measure them up I'll compare it with some of my gear for you.

aw11 had bluetop and the last had the red top tvis.
so no external oil drain

hence their habit of running bearings when pulling hi revs mid corner

thanks for the help,

I mesured the ports and they are 50mm across and are oval in shape.

What about the round shaped ports are they the 100kw ports or are they the tvis redtops.

I looked on the web and they reckon the 100kw motor has all red lettering??

I took a couple of pics have a look at these.

Also if it is a small port does this mean it is the 100kw engine or is there a 88kw smallport head.

YES, I am confussed!!!

If its a redtop and it hasn't got tvis written on the intake manifold then its a smallport... or am i missing something? Always seemed pretty simple to me.

I have no intake manifold as Im running carbs , I bought the engine that way.

someone in the know should write a difinitive guide and faq it.
I find those sites on the net great but between them its conflicting a bit??

the intake ports are the oval, and 2 sizes, 50mm and 65mm across, the round ports are obvioulsy exhaust, and only 1 size 30mm diameter.

small port is the 100kw engine with 50mm intake ports
bigport is the 88kw engine with 65mm intake ports

the rocker cover lettering dont mean shit.

at least we arent having the connecting rod debate again- now that was some mental shit- trying to work out exactly which engines had what rods.
