20v 4AGE questions

Postby johntramp » Thu Aug 31, 2006 3:04 pm

Hey. I am just tidying up the wiring on my 4age as it is out of the car at the moment. There are a couple of things which I am unsure of tho.

From what I have read there is only one knock sensor on the 4age motors, and there seems to be only one knock sensor pin on the ECU... so which of these is the knock sensor, and what is the other one?

Also there seem to be 3 different temp sensors.

Am I right thinking that;

Red (removed) -> something to do with the radiator fan
Blue -> dash temp gauge
Yellow -> ecu temp sensor

Cheers

1st Red circle (under inlet) = Knock Sensor
2nd Red circle (next to oil filter) = Oil pressure switch (oil light)
Yellow circle = Water Temp. Sesnor (WTS for ECU).
Blue circle = Water Temp Sensor for Temp. guage.
3rd Red circle (thermostat elbow) = Thermo-switch for radiator fan.

oh also, this ended up in my offcuts pile. It looks to be a capacitor? for the ignitor??? Is it important?

Capacitor -> noise filter. will run with out it, but it is better to keep it.

ok, so how would I wire it in? I can't see it on any diagrams I have. does it go in parallel with the +ve to the ignitor?

It goes between ignitor +12v to ground (place connections as close as possible to ignitor).

Actually for Ign supression, so should be from coil +ve to earth and close to the coil, but toyota put them at the igniter as Igniter +ve and Coil +ve are linked.
