do i need upgraded injectors?

Postby Burning Angel » Wed Oct 25, 2006 8:48 pm

Hi all

A friend of mine has a silvertop 4age with cams, aftermarket ecu, large fuel pump etc

is it nessecary to upgrade the stock injectors(295cc? & rev limit 8500)
and what are suitable?

the stock ones are low impedance right, so i assume they will be ballasted(cuz of aftermarket ecu which is a wolf btw)

i have seen high impedance 380cc's from a soarer for sale(so would probably need to remove balasting right?)

mr2s are 440ccs? and what about sr20dets? and are they high or low impedance.

What im really trying to find out is if an upgrade is nessecary as i have
a friend with a b18c that maxed is stock injectors at ~7000-7500rpm whith a link+exhaust

any help would be greatly apreciated

What max duty cycle are your injectors running?

Without seeing the car in question & checking duty cycle & A/f ratio it's hard to say. but going on experience with other 1600 N/A engines be it 4AGE/B16 etc I'd say you going to have to change those injectors to probably something around the 400cc+ mark, it would obviosuly depend on how agressive the cams are etc. The thing to watch apart from impedance & flow rates if you change injectors is the spray pattern, particularly at higher rpm(You want a spray not a fire hose). Can't remember exactly what we've used in the past but 440cc out of a 7M supra rings a bell, just not 100% sure without looking back.

well have to see what happens when its tuned as the ecu has been reset.
my feeling is that they will lack a little in the top end but i wont know until we get there.

ill post up some results in a couple of weeks of the tune
