Postby into_obscurity » Fri Nov 03, 2006 8:36 pm

hey guys

quick question

the motor in a mates 1987 gl corolla is almost packed it in. atm it has the 1300 sohc ee80 in it, but ive got this ae82 blue-top from an 1986 fxgt sitting in the shed and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it could be bolted in? and if so, would it be a major?

Cheers! :D

There was a guy on here that did it to a liftback, as far as I know it wasn't too much hassle. But remember you'll need to do the fuel tank + lines, and you will need a 4age gearbox and probably the half shafts.

It's not really worth doing it unless you have a whole doner car to use.

im pretty sure most of the mounts are different, and you will need a cert
so not really worth it IMO

Is the EE80 carby or fuel injected?
If it is carby you will need to sort out efi fuel tank and fuel lines (efi has a fuel return line).
There is some discussion about engine mounts (I don't know which is correct) ... either:
A - the body mounting points are the same for A and E motors and the bits that bolt onto the engine/gearbox are different. or
B - the body mounts are different

A=good. Just get a full set of mounts for the bluetop and gearbox
B= not good. You will have to mod body and/or mounts

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!
