1G Dust cover.

Postby Quint » Sun Dec 03, 2006 9:21 am

Managed to lose the dust cover on my 1G, the cover that goes on the plate that goes behind the flywheel which you take off to undo torque converter bolts if its an auto.

It heated up and distorted when the last clutch cooked itself and it didn't really fit to well and has most likely come off somewhere.

Now i need to find a way to cover it up / replace it. Are all these dust covers the same? or are the unique to EVERY engine? also, anyone got suggestions on how to rig up something to prevent water and shit from getting into my bellhousing?

I've thought about cutting up some alie plate and pop riveting it on there, but the surface is concaved so it'd be a pig to get right.

PLACE YOUR BETS, or suggestion, NOW!

I just did an auto to manual conversion on the same car and I had the correct part for the manual (ie no hole in the front). This means that somewhere in my shed that little cover will be floating around. I will have a look sometime today or tomorrow, if I find it pm me your address and I will post it to you. Failing that I would just give the area a quick clean up with the grinder and weld a piece of panel steel over the hole.
