AE92 rear brakes

Postby Hachiroku » Mon Mar 19, 2007 4:12 pm

I'm using AE92 rear calipers for a rear disc conversion but need to know what angle they should be mounted at. If anyone can post a pic of the rear disc/caliper setup that would be awesome.

i mounted my mongrel rear calipers in essentailly the facory position for a TE71/AE86 rear.
some people will claim that position makes all the difference to braking performance, others claim it won't make naff all difference.

it would be interesting to see what side of the arguement more experienced race car fabricators take.............cue Atmosports, Vvega, Matt Dunn etc, as i'm sure they will have either a theory or an experience ??

hope that helps, just a note, my rear pads have hardly been touched at all, and been through 2-3 sets of front road/race compound pads

Thanks for that, you're a legend! My main concern was to do with having the handbrake cables operating at the correct angle (I assume this is fairly important?)

i have read a bit about how brake caliper location can affect the performance of a wheel under braking

i doubt you will feel it. and it makes less difference to a live axle.
just mount it so the cables are unrestricted.

to get an idea about how a caplier effects a wheel, just think of the forces and the way they move.
