st202 subframe compared to st206?

Postby Infinite » Wed Mar 21, 2007 7:22 pm

Ok, so i have my lsd st202 box all nicely rebuilt now but the problem is the back gbox mount isnt lined up with the holes in the subframe.... Ive had the wrecker ive got all the bits from compare a st202 subframe and a st206 subframe and we have messured the bolt holes on both and they are the same? question is why is mine different? anyone ever heard of this... or is the LSD subframe in a st202 different from a non lsd? also would anyone have pictures of curren engine mounts????

If a fickle problem like that stumps you, your 600hp drag car build is going to be a nightmare.

oh? im soo sorry i don't know if every subframe is the same or different 4 people from this forum all said it would bolt in and they all have had plenty of experience on doing conversions like this, And one would asume there is a subframe that is different because it did come out of one :) so im asking people if they have come accross it. If you want to be a smart ass go and post in some one else's post not mine.

And also i want pictures of the mounts because ive had nolathane one's made and im not sure they are set correctly, so my bad for trying to get help from other toyspeed members who have had experience with st202's

Hi - the ST206 that donated my 3sge in my racecar had the lsd E56? gearbox. It had superstrut suspension.
I know that the superstrut subframes for AE101 macpherson suspension vs superstrut are slightly different (superstrut has an extra hole that bolts to the body and secures part of the suspension). The macpherson will bolt to a superstrut body but not the other way.
I SUSPECT... that maybe the E56 gearbox setup was only on the superstrut ST202/206 cars and maybe you have a non superstrut subframe setup for the S series gearbox?
Hope this helps you Richard.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Ok, thanks for that looks like ill just get a plate welded to the mount and redrill that plate with it in the right place will be the quickest solution

i found the mounts can be slightly out after being remoulded too. it should only put it out by a kunthair tho, i just had to slightly slot a couple of holes.

oh and make sure you're putting the mounts on in the right order. usually if you dont do a specific order then one wont fit

i had that when i put the f series lsd into the back of my MA61

if you dont put the bolts in the correct order, it can be a right pain.

I was thinking that my rear subframe was not correct
