tick tick sound, but not VVT

Postby BZR4AGE » Sat Mar 31, 2007 2:36 pm

hi there guys, was going through a burgerking drive through when i noticed the sound. then i went home and checked it out.

The engine is making a tick tick sound, specifically on the head. and is not VVT because i have camshafts and adjustable cam pulleys in there, so can't be VVT. What could it be, will take it to a mechanic during the week.

Just want some "pre-money-spending on repair" advices
Cheers

easiest time to hear the injetors is when its idling. pop the bonnet and just lift the revs real slowly (easiest to do it by hand in the engine bay) and see if the "ticking" you can hear speeds up.
at higher revs it stops ticking as the injectors are constantly open (i presume) then as the revs drop again they'll start ticking...

hi little devil. I just did that, and yes, is exactly what you said. The sound is coming from between the throttle bodies and injectors.

How come I never heard these before, is it a big issue? are my injectors on the way out?

Sorry for these questions aye, I am still a newbie to these stuff. Cheers

loud injector is healthy injector ;).
btw if the ticking wills top after you have shut off throttle after revving it over 2000rpm, that will be definitely injectors.

ive got decent injectors in my car and can hear them ticking easily over the engine, with the doors/windows all shut in the car.
