Fuel tank + fuel pump questions (relating to AA63 tank)

Postby RomanV » Thu Apr 12, 2007 2:07 pm

Okay so I've picked up an EFI AA63 fuel tank for my Carina. (cheers goldae86)

Standard fuel tank, standard pump.

What are the fuel tanks like, in terms of internal baffling etc? I've heard that fuel surge isnt a problem with these? Or will some additional internal baffling possibly be required?

Also, how good is the factory fuel pump? Good enough for 200hp? If not, is there anything which bolts straight in as a replacement? How interchangable are toyota fuel pumps?

Cheers.

Dave - I haven't ever had a problem with fuel surge etc with my racecar (AA63 Carina) with either the factory 4age setup or with my 3sge.
When I put the 3sge in I took my fuel pump out and replaced the standard fuelpump with the fuel pump from the donor car (gen3 3sge Curren).
The pump pretty much just bolted onto the factory mount that goes into the tank and holds the fuelpump, filter/strainer thing and the fuel gauge sensor.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Aaah okay. I PMd glenn also, and he said he's been running the factory pump with his 7AGTE. So they cant be too shabby! But I'll probably get a 3S fuel pump, just to be sure.

hey, if its the same external fuel pump as the MA61 you will be fine.

i have heard of 200rwkws with the stock pump...

if its the intank one, check the part number, as it might be the same as the MA70

bwhahaha.

Yeah I think I'll stick with the standard pump, and see how it goes.

If I end up swapping it for a 3S one, then sure you can have my old one.
