rust on crank

Postby levinguy » Sun Apr 22, 2007 5:42 pm

i've got a 4age crank thats been lying around in a block for some time thats got some rust on it. nothing to bad, but it's rust on a crank and i have no idea.

will it be ok after being acid-dipped? or is past the point of no return? is there something else that can be done to save it?

can't imagine it would be fine to use with rust on it?

Without seeing the crank & exactly where the rust is, it's hard to know. Acid-dipping should remove it. Providing it's only light surface rust it shouldn't cause any problems. If its on a bearing journal though I'd look at getting the crank polished again.
