Camshafts

Hey guys, just sitting here having a think to myself (not much happening at work today) and I got to thinking about cams. Supposing I had 2 sets of cams which both fit in my engine, one set slightly more aggressive than the other, would it be possible to use the exhaust cam of the less aggressive set as the intake cam and the exhaust cam of the more aggressive set as the exhaust cam? I may be asking a really dumb question, I don't really know too much about camshafts, but it can't hurt to ask, right?

Quite often a bigger intake cam is paired up with a smaller exhaust.
For example 264 in, 256 ex
272 in, 264 ex
etc etc

interestingly enough mine is the opposite, and exhaust has the longer duration. your thoughts?

have a set of 20v cams here...
274in/290ex degrees

The idea is to broaden the torque band, my guess is coz the silvertop has alot smaller ex ports they have given it more duration

Ive heard of franklin cams doin that wit the silvertop to try and combat the bad flow of the exhaust ports

yeap that set is franklin

I have a set of "largeeee" Kelford billets here they are even all around (intresting to see they have just added another grind to the 20v line up DOH)

perhaps i should rephrase the question:

assume there were two sets of cams, one set in = 224 ex = 228 and the other set in = 224 and ex = 233.

can i mix and match from both sets and make a set that uses the exhaust cams from both sets to make a set which is in = 228 and ex = 233?

well, provided the cams are the same... as in number of lobes and dizzy drives etc...
then yeah.... however the profiles may not suit
