Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Sun Apr 29, 2007 10:05 pm

not sure exactly what series the box is - 55, 6/7/8. if you can tell me that from the shifter position it'd be even better.

mostly wanting to know what this bellhousing is off... this is about the only picture I have of it at the moment, can get more if need be.

does anyone know??

thanks.

Oooh I'm a geek
It's a R motor bellhousing. Very likely a W55 from my experience with this bellhousing
Shifter position... a bit hard to see but looks like second most rearwards position.
Measure from front of gearbox (where it bolts to the bellhousing) to the centre of the shifter and post it here (mm).

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

I can tell bellhousings a couple of different ways.
1 - from memory... R bells have a stud for one of the starter holes
2 - I stagger out to the garage and look at the 3 R bells (and others, G, C/S Y) I have sitting out there.
3 - I look on the internet for pics of bells and compare them. You have to look for stuff like relative positions of starters, clutch release arm pivots etc.

Maybe I should make a post for Tech FAQ with pics of ones I have/had...

yeah would be a good idea, surely there must have been enough threads covering different bellhousings by now to make one thread from them!!

btw, whats the c series bellhousing you've got? does it bolt up to w55? want to sell it at all?

C bell same as S - the blocks have the same bolt pattern.
I don't have one for sale sorry.
Just find a boring old liteace with a C diesel motor. grab the bellhousing. the gearbox will be a G52 or something but the bolt pattern from box to bell is same as W series box.
