Hi, have spent a lot of time reading a lot of posts and have learn't a lot. But i am interested in anyones opinion on my problem.

I have a AE111 Black top 20V 1995. Ever since i got it its had this annoying surge / miss around 3000rpm. Since i have had it it has had

New sparks
New leads
New dist cap and rotor
New rear muffler and new cat converter
New petrol filter
New Cam belt

All of which has improved the performance heaps!

Its done 140km now (100 when i got it) and i was the first NZ owner, looks like it hadn't had much servicing before i got it.

But it still had the miss/surge. I had a mechanic friend of the family look at it and he replaced the tps, and computer (which was $500 bucks).

Again this made the problem less worse and the performance smoother, in the end he found the best way to get rid of the problem was to disconnect the oxygen sensor.

So now it has a new computer and an unconnected O2 sensor, but it actually goes the best it ever has and the surge is hardly noticeable, it just used to be a pain in the arse to drive it before.

It does burn a fair bit of oil as well. But even with the O2 sensor disconnected it doesn't use any more fuel.

What im wondering is, just leave it as it is. Or try to get a new O2 sensor, figuring that i dont really want to spend too much more money on an old car.

Thanks for your help!

I'm on my 3rd (or is it 4th?) O2 sensor.

Would last about a year. Get huge hesitation about 3000rpm when semi warm.

Change the O2 sensor and it was like a new car.

Only ever run the car on BP ultimate...

Yeah it is a bit like that, maybe it is the O2 sensor, are they very expensive?

Thanks for your replies.
