brake dust on your wheels shows that you mean business.

I have NFI how people with white wheels keep them super clean. :?

Some pads produce much more dust than others. get a low dust pad.
The green Lucas pads seem to be crap for this. I ran 2 sets through and they were dirty as... but my Bendix Advance are ok.

Same thing happened to me, replaced my front brake pads with repco ones and they created more brake dust than the old ones :?

I have bendix ultimates on my rex with white wheels. I don't even bother trying to keep them clean aye. And I only drive the car once a week. My old standard pads were even worse though.

Can anyone comment on Green stuff pads and how much dust they make? I want some for a road trip coming up.....

Just check my avatar to get an idea of how annoying I find cleaning my wheels of brake dust. (once annually is a mish)

Lucas pads are very good pads, but they are terribly dusty. Silverline pads, which are pretty crap if you have a car that weighs more than a ton and makes more than a 100hp, are actually quite good as far as dust goes.
I had Metal Kings in my old MR2, and they were quite good. Very harsh on rotors though.

The supercheap pads will be made from recycled wheatbix bricks and wet chipboard. Silverline are the same. I wouldnt use them if expected to do any 'spirited' driving and expect to stop when I was done.
Who cares about the dust. When the fronts are black swap them to the back after a few days of dust no one will be the wiser, as far as they know you have cool matt black wheels. It usually comes off pretty easy with warm water and minimal sponging anyway.

i use a race compound on my car and stopping once (slight hyperbole) covers my wheels in brake dust. just clean them frequently or ignore it, it's really not that big a deal.
