twin turbo setup posibail??

hey iv been ondering if its posibail/any good to have a twin turbo setup with two small turbos and having each one running off of two cylenders (mainly so i can have two completly sepperate exausts)
i asked one of my mates (who is a micanic) and didint give me a full anwser (or cant rememer what he seaid) but he sed it woild be hard to get them tuned right or somthing
what do other people who who know a bit more about turbos think??

on what engine? they'd have to be pretty tiny turbos on a 4cyl engine.. definitely possible but whether or not its the best use of money is a different story.

if you just want 2 seperate exhausts (i'm guessing you want to do one out each side or something?) just get an exhaust made with a Y somewhere in it, i don't see the point of spending all the extra money on a twin turbo setup that most likely won't have any benefits over a single turbo.

just it would be cool coz ou can have a pritty cool reverbiration effect with 2 sepperate exausts one out each side
its probly gonna go onto a 3sgte(2ltr turbo) im just working out different ideas that iv got in my heaid

Can be done, but the only purpose would be for WTF value. Unless you used really small turbos, it'd be a laggy POS.
It'd be no trickier to tune than a single turbo one, but in likelyhood you'll have less power than a single CT20B with more lag.

lol that thing will be whe laggiest POS ever. for a 4age id use tiny turbos off a GT starlet or Charade or Swift GTi etc that would be pretty cool

Do a search on google there is a twin turbo blacktop in a ae86 i think and they had good results.

yes it can work. but it can be done cheaper and easier by single....

i cant see any power benifits coming from 2 turbos on a 4 cyl

twins are supposed to be more responsive. i think the problem with people using twins on small capacity engines is that they always choose turbos which are far too large for the engine, then complain about the lag. if you stuck the same ratio of engine size to twin turbo size on a rb26 or something, it would be just as laggy, but people are used to big power and big lag.

there are 4 cyl. twin turbos from factory - RS/GT Legacy.
But those turbos are tiny.
The performance of those vehicles is not great - on par with 20v

dono was going with a theme on tiny cars=tiny turbos. im sure iv seen turbo swifts tho....

I dont think the swift ever came out turbo, just seen alot of turbo ones in OZ but thats aftermarket turbo kits and custom made jobbies.

OK, Here is a good example of a twin turbo 4ag.

So my friend in the UK brought my nice original UK AE86 off me and brought this Vas Speed kit from a Yahoo auction (Japanese Yahoo I think).

Yes the Turbos are babies and each feds from 2 cyclinders. Runs good but it certainly is a kit for the WTF effect. Car is now pretty nuts.
