vf6 turbos

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Sat Jun 23, 2007 5:29 pm

anyone heard of these? never heard of them and can't find any info on them, other than that they actually do exist! only other info i've found is references to hondas and subarus?

i'm assuming they would be smaller than a vf8 and vf10 though. basically I'm wanting to know roughly what power these are good for. probably better to stick with a vf10?

thanks.

I would have thought a VF8 would be the idea, being bigger then the VF10. A VF8 is from a RS Legacy 89-92, and are pretty damn easy to find.

Go for a TD05H off an early WRX, thats a drop in replacement for VF8,10,12 but im unsure how u have your entry to the turbo set up as the TD05's have a 90 deg elbow cast into the comp cover. but you could cut it off and have a pipe welded in

the old RHB5 VF6 is off the 1800cc twin cam Subaru leone
Same size turbine housing but a tad smaller in the compressor wheel.
its roughly about the same size as the mazda GT-X turbos.

i'll stick with the VF10 .. as you can find them more easly.

are they a different flange than a subie vf10 though?
i've already got a vf10 with a triangular flange, which I was going to use but i might be getting hold of a turbo manifold which is setup for a vf6, and I can't just bolt my vf10 on due to the different flange.

is there any way to bolt all the vf10 parts onto the vf6 exhaust housing or something? or would it not make much difference...

thanks.

The vf10 compressor side fits into the gtx vj20 exhaust housing so IF the vf6 is the same size as the gtx the just use the vf10 compressor side on the vf6 exhaust housing.........it just might work.

i know the VF3 / VF4 (which is also off the EA82) has a smaller turbine inlet flange size, but it is the same triangle shape. but unsure about the VF6. i'l try & have a look tomorrow if i get a chance.

but i do know they use the same turbine wheels so yes you could just unbolt the VF6 CHRA and bolt in the VF10 CHRA.
and just muck around with the wastegae set up.
