W series box question

Postby matt dunn » Sat Jun 23, 2007 9:49 pm

Q. Do all W series gearboxes have the same number of teeth on the output shaft?

I have a spare W series gearbox, but the yoke that I have that is meant to be for a W series box doesn't fit. it's the same Dia. so is definatly not a T50 one, but doesn't fit the box?

A. ???

W55 thru W59 yes, W50 is different. Even the altezza 6 speed is supposed to have the same spline as the W55-W59 which is the same as the RWD auto's

The Altezza beside us at Pukekohe last weekend snapped a drivesahp yoke/universal on the start line as they started from pit lane.
They had a spare with them, but the size of the joint is no-where near the size of the W55/W57 one in my car, ( which is why they had a spare)

That's weird then. Maybe the spare one I have is w50 series then?

Thanks for the info.
