ST205 Cooling System Leak - Help

Postby riddles » Mon Jun 25, 2007 4:23 pm

Ok, so the car is booked in for repairs at the end of the week, but I want to get some idea of what might be wrong and the cost involved so I'm not overly shocked by the bill.

I've searched on here and also googled but can't find a definitive answer.

It is a 1994 ST205 3S-GTE and there is water leaking down the drivers side of the engine between the alternator and timing belt cover. If the car is running then it empties the raduiator in about 1/2 an hour but with the engine switched off it only loses about 750ml. I had a crawl about under the car at the weekend but there was no obvious sign of cracked pipes, it was almost as if it was coming out from under the timing belt cover.

From what I have been able to find I think it may be the the water pump housing but I'm not certain. Any comments and advice would be welcome

Water pump seal imo. Mine went and it'll lose all 13L of coolent when I drive from the shore to city. As I drive off it'll leave a nice trail of water on the ground, around the alternator/aircon/timing belt area.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.
