Rust repairs Welly

Postby reesj002 » Sun Jul 01, 2007 6:52 pm

Hey everyone,

Well I should have guessed it but the rolla gt sedan I bought from Christchurch with all that hay and crap in the boot turned out to have a bit of rusty wusty.

So to get a warrant I have a hole about 15cmx4cm long in the left hand bottom of the boot (behind the bumper) and the rim of the boot seal has cracked off about 5cm long.

Spewing, but must stay positive and get the rust fixed. Now one of the good fellas from here I bought the suspension a while ago off, suggested Just Rust at Tawa, and am going to swing past there for a quote, but where else would you guys suggest? I kindof just want the metal fixed so I can do the painting myself.

Got some really good suggestions from you all a while back on cheap painters, but unfortunately I couldnt go through at the time as were more important things to get fixed.

Any suggestions would be awesome...

Chur :D

Pretty sure Just Rust are exactly that, just rust repair. From some jobs I've seen of them, they're quite sharply priced.
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

Churs for the super rapid respnse!

Was a bit bizarre when I called, seemed like he said wouldnt cost much, then when i said i didnt need it painted the price jumped a bit, but then again he hadnt seen it. I've noticed on a few other posts some suggest taking it to a general engineering place and just getting some plates welded on.

Anyone reckon that would be the way to go? like cut the chunks out then take it in for some weld action?
