Gear Selectors

Postby Caribeena » Sun Jul 01, 2007 10:56 pm

hey guys, just changed the clutch in my glanza v, everything is sweet apart from now when i select either 5th or reverse and then take it out of gear (not moving car is stationary) it wont return properly.... it stays over to the right and has to be given a nudge to return to its central position.
has this happened to anyone else before?
or anyone know why this could be?

or possibly youv knocked the selectors a bit, maybe bent them.
have some one sit in the car and work the lever while you have a good look, maybe you can see whats out of place.

when i converted my cousins ae101 to manual the selectors got a knock, so it did weird stuff like only have 3rd and 5th or something

my brothers bluebird does that
push it to the right and gear stick will just sit there and you have to push it a lil bit to go back to center

my guess would be when re installing you've routed the gear shift linkage cable slightly different to its stock location. extra/sharper bend etc = friction

My RX7 did that, with the MX5 gearbox.. Didn't think much of it, till 6 rounds into the series, and it wouldnt select 3rd, turned out the fork at bent, and then snapped after awhile.
