5 speed kp60

hi just took out a 2k and 4 speed from starlet i took gearstick out by removeing circlip and stick comes out which is easy, but the 5 speed im puting in does not have the same set up it does not have the clip in same place do you have 2 leave stick in? ANY HEALP WOULD BE GOOD THANKS
