ae82-ae101- what can you change?

Postby Brick » Mon Jul 02, 2007 8:28 pm

what is there from a ae101 levin (gtz) that can be out onto a ae82 fxgt?
the levin is superstrut so im aware the struts will be different. But what about the hubs or brakes?

i got the motor, box and driveshafts to go into the fx but is that all that is required?

also i plan on hopefully putting coilover suspension in it so will the top hats fit? (ill hopefully have the 101 hubs so i know the bottom will fit)

thanks in advance but ill no there will be alot more questions

it'd be easier to get some pics of the ae101 bits and ae82 and compare or even better physically compare the bits as not all will be same

Thought you were selling the fx man, change of heart??
top hats are different as ae82 uses 4 bolts on top where it bolts into strut tower, ae101 is 3 bolt spacing and wider spacing, hubs maybe an issue as i think like the ae92 variant, the lower bolt holes are larger diameter , whether you can swap where the balljoint gets bolted to the lower arm is another question. I'm not sure how you'd go with putting ae101 lower control arm in but i'd say where the inside bolts to the subframe, it's in a different place, think 20mm further back compared to the ae82???

did you put it into ae82 or 92?? I looked at my ae92 lower arms and the balljoint where it bolts to has larger holes and different offset to the aE82

Ae101 Gtz hub wont fit. the ae82 bottom arm or struts.

You can fit the gtz calipers and rotors to the ae82 hubs by machining the rotor diameter down 10mm and then shaving the caliper carrier (the face that sits flush with the hub) till the rotor lines up with the middle of the caliper.

I fitted AE92 GZE hubs and ZE balljoints to my AE82 lower arms. I think I just drilled out the holes to fit the balljoint (10mm out to 12 I think). Seems all ok.

ae82 and 92 have differences in where the ball joint bolts in, but front struts do fit between the 2 models

I haven't looked too deep into how to modify hem but i'd say ae101 non s/s hubs would be the go, but why do you want to use the hubs off ae101? My guess is lsrger brake selection
