VF10 help?

Postby Adamal » Wed Jul 04, 2007 10:17 am

So anyone out there know their VF10's?

Problem is that my mates Familia GTX popped its turbo, so got him a VF10 from a Subaru for a good price.

Problem is..... Oil outlet is facing up.....

Not a problem, we thought. We'll just rotate the exhaust housing so that the middley type bit (highly technical and proper names used round here!) did a 180.

So we've undone all bolt on there, but it appears to be stuck! That or its just being a bitch. I'm guessing all those times its been heated up, cooled down, heated up, cooled down etc haven't helped either.

So does anyone have any tips or tricks about how to rotate the housing or get it off?

Cheers!
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

You just have to give a whack with a big copper hammer on one side,
then on the other side. give the shaft a spin to make sure it isnt jammed aginst the housing, carry on.

or bring it in and we can do it in about 5 mins...

I've done the same.
I needed to soak it with mouses milk for a day or so and it came off easy as. Or you could use any other penetrating oil, CRC works ok, but not as good as others.

yep ive rotated both ends of a vf10 turbo, it had been recently rebuilt though so probably wasn't as "stuck" as most. but it took two people to get it to budge! just gotta force it...nicely...
