4agze flywheels fitting inside bellhousings

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Wed Jul 04, 2007 11:34 pm

1) what options do I have for bellhousings when it comes to fitting an ae92 4agze flywheel (224mm) inside? it doesn't matter what gearbox the bellhousing bolts to...

2) is the ae92 4agze flywheel idential to the aw11 4agze flywheel?

i know they won't fit inside the 4a - t50 bellhousing but what about other bellhousings like the fwd 16v bluetop, redtop etc? will a 4agze flywheel fit inside them or are they identical (within reason ofcourse!) to the 4a - t50 bellhousings?
i'm guessing the k50 bellhousing would be far too small for a 4agze flywheel?

or is the problem to do with the clutch plate etc fitting instead of the actual flywheel itself?

thanks.

4agze flywheels go like this

aw11 225mm surface friction area
ae92 230mm SFA
AE101 230mm SFA
there was a change in size on the ae92/ae101 as i found out with revhead when i ordered my set up and got the wrong size flyweel. 225mm instead of 230mm. it could be in the ae92 or the ae101 that has a cross over in size and depends of the year of the car that has the bigger flywheel.

its the clutch cover that foils on the inside of the bell. the sharp edges of the clutch cover will dig into the wall and jam. (TRD clutch cover) this may vary from brand to brand because of design.
nite parts bell 4a>w5* when i was fitting smaller 225mm set up i had the take out about 1mm in some spots. then changing to the bigger 230mm setup i had to do more grinding in the same spots to get it to clear.

i think the ring gear on all 4age flywheels are the same diameter so the flywheel wont change in diameter much, its whats on the back of it that changes size. like the steps on the 4agze flywheels get bigger in the 230mm.

Ae92 early is same size as aw11, late is same size as ae101.
