215W aftermarked Ecu

Postby Pirken » Mon Jul 09, 2007 12:42 am

Is there anybody that makes a ecu for the 215w engine ?
I have a manual not a tiptronic.
Here in Norway we only have 98 petrol so i have some degree of ignition banks. Need a after market ecu.
Have anybody made this switch ?
Should i go for the universal AEM ? or something else ?
I really want to go for a ecu that someone else have used so i can ask them question if something is going wrong.

Ty for your feedback !

I ran a greddy Emanage Ultimate in my ST215w 5 speed. There are many aftermarket ECUs you can use - if you want service and knowledge its often best to go with something familiar to those who wil be tuning it - ie what ECUs are avail in your local home town?

after marked ecu

Postby Pirken » Mon Jul 09, 2007 8:13 pm

My closes mapper uses AEM or the Power FC, I realy want a stand alone ecu not a piggyback. He asked me to ask "you" at the forum wats has been used at this car. Apexi tells me tha the Power FC cant be used for my car.

So i wonder, anybody used the AEM universal ecu ?
This is very expensive in norway 3 311,26 NZD.

AEM is not a big brand in NZ - in fact there are hardly any resellers of AEM gear. For that price you are better to go with a Motec anyhow!

Here are some ECU manufacturers, most of which offer ECUs that will run the gen 3/4 3sgte engine (in no particular order):

No need to go to the M800, the M400 will be ok.

Which you can do with the MAPECU2. Also has onboard electronic boost control, launch control and much much more:

We are agents for these in NZ, but our agency agreement prevents us from shipping overseas if there is an agent in your location already.

Do the ecu2 start on scratch ? or does it start from the oem ecu data ?

You need to build a fuel MAP - its not a turn key start. There are MAPS available for 3sgte (SW20 and ST205) though on the MAPECU2 website that are free to download here:

http://www.performancemotorresearch.co. ... ables.html

start with the ST205 one - it should be fine to get the car running (but remember these are just base maps - each individual engine is different so you WILL need a dyno tune).

AEM F/IC

Postby Pirken » Sun Aug 05, 2007 2:44 am

I order the AEM F/IC and i wonder a couple of things .
My crank shaft position sensor and the cam position sensor have the same Ground, is this a problem ?
I just put the to ground together to the minus signal from crank/cam.

The Maf sensor should this be put on the Intake air temp or the Intake manifold temperature ?
or do the 3.5 gen 3sgte have a maf sensor ? or only Map sensor. if Map sensor should i use the output from the manifold pressure instead ?

And i can seem to find a signal ground on my pin list. i just grounded it to a ground signal from ecu.

I haven't mounted the o2 sensor yet because cant seem to find the type of resistor in any store here.

The engine starts just fine , but when reaching 3500 rpm it halts the ignition. but this it just fine before the mapping or ?

need some help

Postby Pirken » Tue Aug 07, 2007 6:17 am

I tried to bypass first the signal from the MAP sensor.
same thing happened. fuel cut or ignition cut.
I tried to bypass crank and cam signal and only had the injector into the piggyback. but still same thing happens.

Anybody have a qlue was going on here ?

I think you will find that noone in NZ usues AEM electronics - so you may be better asking on some US forums as they might have a better idea. I imagine AEM also offer some sort of after sales support via email or internet forum - try that avenue also.

Best of luck!
