cold start injector

Postby rollaholic » Sat Jul 14, 2007 11:46 am

so, the cold start injector on my bluetop isint working. i presume this is because the ECU is not receiving a temperature reading from whichever sensor it needs it from to tell it to switch it on.

my question is, where does the ECU get its "cold start needed" info from? the temp sensor in the thermostat housing or the radiator fan thermo switching device on the back of the head?

is the STA pin of the ecu receving 12v+ when you crank the engine over? it should be, that tells the ecu its cranking and fire the CS injector.

There is also the thermal switch too, if thats fualty or unplugged then it wont work either.

It's next to the temp sensor (for the ecu) on the back/end of the head.

Start injector cold ?

Postby jondee86 » Sat Jul 14, 2007 8:04 pm

AFAIK the cold start injector is powered up from the "Start" position
on the ignition switch, and only fires during cranking. The cold start
injector time switch (one of the sensors at the back of the head) will
prevent the cold start injector from firing when the engine is hot. It
also turns the injector off during excessive cranking to prevent flooding.

Resistance between STJ - STA pins on time switch
20-40 Ohm below 30 deg C
40-60 Ohm above 40 deg C

STA - Ground
20-80 Ohm

The STA signal tells the ECU that the starter is operating, probably so
that it can adjust timing and stuff like that :)
