Battery Cable

Postby Boosted_162 » Sat Jul 21, 2007 8:29 pm

Had a search, and couldnt find anything related..

Ive run the cable through to my boot, to give me more room for my intake. Now the end of the cable in the engine bay has no fittings on it, whats the best way of joining it up the the old positive? I would think the best way would be to use a distribution block, and connect up the starter and other positive wire spearately? Am i able to get a big enough distribution block? The cable im using is welding cable i think, about 25mm thick.

Am i thinking the right way? Or is there a better way to do it?

Cheers :)

i got 25mm² crimp on lugs, with 8mm hole, from corys electrical in wairau park, i think they were about 30c each, then just crimped one onto the original battery cable that spread to the starter etc and one onto the cable from the boot, bolted them together, heatshrink and you're away laughing

My factory connection is bolted on, so is already has one of those fittings on it. I just put one on the new cable, and bolt together? And insulate obviously. Can i crimp it myself? The cable is already in the car, and i dont really want to pull it out if i dont have to!

Cheers for the help.

you can crimp it yourself but you will need the correct tool, if you go to corys and ask really nicely they may let you borrow one of theirs, if they do you'll probably have to give them some kind of security/bond cos the crimp tool is really expensive

or if you have a friend thats a sparky they should have one/be able to get one for you
