Smallport head question

Can you run a smallport head and inlet manifold using bigport loom, injectors, TPS, throttle body etc etc on a bigport block? And if so would you get a power gain?

you could but its maped differently so youd loose power,
a few things i can think of that would not work..
injectors use different signal
tps use different signal.

smallport head has the oil drain valve at the back, with no matching port on the bigport block!

Some people have dropped smallport 4age's into ae82 corollas using the bluetop ecu etc. Have to use bluetop dizzy, injectors etc though.
Not sure if they would gain or lose power over the bluetop.

I wouldnt run the smallport injectors with the bigport ECU. You'll wash the bores and cause engine damage. Even with the bigport injectors I would very much doubt you'll get an increase in power. My bet is on a net loss as the ignition and fuel map will be tuned for a different flow charastic.

No reason why you couldn't swap a smallport head and manifold for
your bigport head and manifold. So long as you are using the bigport
injectors and ECU etc., there should not be any problem.

AFAIK the extra power in the smallport was due to higher com pistons and
an improved injector spray pattern. You won't be using either of these, so
the chances are you will feel little or no change... apart from the loss of
your TVIS.... which might make it feel sluggish off the bottom

not likely. port size and intake manifold, have a bigger effect than a bit more compression and spray patterns.
use the smallport ecu or you'l have rich and/or lean patches. no matter what injectors you use with a bigport ecu.

According to the Club 4AGE spec sheet :

Bigport Max Power 130@6600, Max Torque 15.2@5200

Smallport Max Power 140 @7200, Max Torque 15.0 @6000

So yeah, the smallport has a little more topend power by virtue of the
extra rpm's. If the torque curves are similar, then at 6600 the smallport
is making pretty much exactly the same power as the bigport. So it
doesn't look like the manifold design does much except push the Max
Torque point up the rev range... hm ?

Would this engine be running an O2 sensor ??

yeh thats what the tune generaly follows tho. the torque curve. so diffrent torque curve = diffrent fuel map
