ae92 fxgt, wof failure - rear brakes

Postby deaf_rattle » Tue Aug 21, 2007 9:07 pm

Failed my wof on the rear brakes being quite out of balance.
The hand brake was weak as well.

I guess adjusting hand brake cable will sort out handbrake strength, but what do i need to do to adjust rear brakes? i thought they were self adjusting?

maybe i should bleed the brakes and see how that goes

cheers

I would have a look at the condition of the brake pads and making sure that the calipers are not seized, leaking etc... as this is what happen to my AE111 it didnt fail a wof but it was a little weaker on one side, I pulled the pads out to find the brake pads looking like a wedge, one side of the brake pad carier had seized up and was causing the problem..

bleed the rear brakes especially the left side, will fix the handbrake as well(as long as nothing is seized/worn out pads)

Is it disk rear end? If so looen off your handbrake cable, pump the brake pedal then while holding the pedal downd tighten the cable again.

Try that at different tensions until you like it alot.

Thats how I do them
